How do you treat people around you? How do your kids treat others? When’s the last time you saw or you yourself held open a door for someone else? How about a kind word when obviously the person expected a hefty batch of yelling? Have you given grace thru a kind word?
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Anymore I still just have that look as say the drive-thru window messes up my order and I say “Hey it’s alright!” that look of first shock that “Wait a second….” then that relief that someone didn’t just explode and scream at them.
What about the person at the grocery store? You know that quiet checker who isn’t very happy looking and seems upset to have to bag your eggs and bread in separate bags? She looks like she wants to kill you for your purchase, but how did you respond to her as you walked up? Did you ask how she was, compliment her cool collection of pins which are just silly? Did you thank her for bagging things up for you?
Now for you drivers out there since you can’t really talk to the guy in front of you who just cut you off, make your response one to translate into english by your actions, give them some room, heck maybe you see them coming up to a large truck and they’d be blocked, leave some room open for a little bit so they can merge over and not RUSH over!
But you may be saying “What about me?” well I’d make this a challenge – over the next week from reading this go above and beyond for stranger! No way you can’t be blessed unless your already thinking “This is silly!” make a real effort thru the week – not sure where or how you can encourage another and lift them up? Here’s some ideas:
- Pay for the person behind you in line at the drive-thru.
- Give your change in the car to that homeless man at the corner.
- Open a spot on the road, for someone else, you’ll get home a-ok.
- Hand a person walking up to grab a cart the one you just grabbed.
- Racing towards the fresh parking spot? Let the other person win.
- Practice these words FREQUENTLY: “THANK YOU SO MUCH!” and “HEY YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY!” – Let people know what they’ve done has helped you!
Be sure to let folks know too it’s not you blessing them directly, it’s all God — The way of culture anymore is truly not a encourage others perspective, its a “what about me?!” view, so many of our youth now days don’t have the honor and respect for others, where did they learn that? Don’t take offense, take it for change, be mindful of your words be mindful of your actions, and its never too late, let kids see you change, CHANGE CAN HAPPEN!
Bear in mind another great verse:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Take some time to bless others, build them up, and be blessed! Just remember James 3:7-12 another verse about the importance of our words, take a minute and read it too!
Be blessed folks!
